The Main Retail Banks in the Middle East are ranked from a survey of 3,000 bank customers based on each bank’s score as consumer’s main bank from its respective market’s survey population.

Key findings:

• National Bank of Egypt has the highest survey penetration rate among banks in the region with 64% of the survey sample
• Rounding up the top five Main Retail Banks in the region are Al Rajhi Bank (Saudi Arabia), Emirates NBD (UAE), Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (UAE), and Banque Misr (Egypt)
• United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia have four banks in the top 10 ranking, while Egypt has two
• Only eight banks have a market survey penetration rate of more than 10%, while the other 13 banks had less than 10% of each market’s survey population that selected them as main bank

Methodology

The BankQuality Scores (BQS) is derived from the standardised z-score of theNet Promoter Score (NPS) of “Main Bank” institutions, with mean set to 100, so that comparison can be made across markets. The final ranking excludes banks that achieved less than 30 'Main Bank' responses.
