Terrible Customer Service

Constant errors, long wait times, and unhelpful staff. Every interaction is a frustrating ordeal. Avoid this bank if you value your time and sanity. Absolutely disappointing experience.

WORST BANK EVER!!!

16 Dec 2023

Yesterday for the SECOND time, Capital One locked me out of every one of my savings and checking accounts. They did this because I added an external account to transfer a CD to when it matures in a few weeks. First, they called me to ask me about verifying my bank information over the phone, which I would never do and they should never ask someone to do from a cold call. When I called them, they said that they needed to call the new bank while I was on the line to verify my account. I verified the name of the bank, and the rep AJ proceeded to call a different bank. After 30 min on the line, the rep of the wrong bank gave her the actual number, and we had to go into the process all over again. So much wasted time! A few months ago, my aunt who was having health issues added me as a joint accountholder. They immediately locked all of her accounts and all of mine. They called her to verify her identity but had some trouble getting a hold of her, and it took over a week and literally a dozen phone calls and several hours to get my accounts released. At that time, I considered closing my Capital One accounts, but I kept them open because they have good interest rates. However, now I will be closing all of my Capital One accounts and recommend that everyone else with a Capital One account close it. It doesn’t do any good to have a good interest rate if, through no fault of your own, you can’t access your money when you need it!

Non-Existent Customer Service

Customer service is non-existent. Calls get dropped and customers are bounced around. Don't bother calling unless you're prepared to waste hours of your time.

Disappointed in Capital One Bank

16 Oct 2023

I have been a Capital One Bank customer for many years. Probably 20 years or more and recommended this bank to everybody we knew or met. It used to be a great bank. Very easy to deal with, honest, respectful customer service and etc. You name it, they had it in the best of form. However, it started change. they took a turn for the worse and now they reduced themselves to just money disappearing from my Checking account without any explanation. I called several times and there is still no explanation. There are NO people who can take a responsibility there. Everybody switching me from one person to the next but the money is gone and there is no answer. What surprises me is that Wall Street Journal still lists them as the best bank, even people rate then as the worst failure. I went to look at the reviews. One star from customers. To me that means that I can't trust any of these institutions. Apparently, lying and stealing is a norm for them. Also they used to value their customers, now they just short of telling you they don't need any customers. It's a pain to start changing all the direct payments and such but has to be done. Can't afford to have money disappearing from Checking Account.

Fraudsters!!

10 Mar 2023

Capital One is known to permit substantial fraudulent activities to occur on your account, and if you fail to pay for it, your credit rating may suffer. Despite multiple instances of small fraudulent charges on my account over a period of three years, Capital One was unable to resolve the issue even after lengthy discussions. They promised to send me new cards with new credit card numbers, but the fraud persisted, forcing me to pay off my account, including the fraudulent charges, in order to close it for good. I strongly advise against using this lender under any circumstances.
